Cancer clinical trials and research in Portsmouth

As part of our mission, Portsmouth Regional Hospital provides the most advanced services available. We offer qualified patients a variety of opportunities to participate in Phased 3 and 4 cancer clinical research trials in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, industry sponsors and the Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

Creating safe drugs and effective treatments for cancers and other diseases requires significant research and testing before the therapies can be offered to patients. Participation in cancer clinical trials gives researchers more opportunity to develop drugs that may help you or your loved ones.

Talk with your physician about participating in a cancer clinical trial. He or she can work with our research nurse coordinators to determine whether you qualify, and if you do, they'll discuss the nature of the trials with you and your family.

Sarah Cannon Research Institute

Sarah Cannon makes a significant contribution to cancer care and research. Before her death, Cannon established a namesake Nashville-based organization that sponsors many leading pharmaceutical trials and other cancer-related research in which Portsmouth Regional frequently participates.
